Do You Remember Seattle Filmworks?

The days of the quality, local film development shops were disappearing, with the advent of 24 hour and then 1 hour development at the local pharmacy. But disappearing as well, was the development of photos on quality paper and with a process that enhanced color and sharpness. Amateur photographers all over the country realized the flimsy quality of the 1 hour photo developers in the pharmacy, and had to resort to sending their film by mail to professional developers. This is when Seattle Filmworks captured the market.

My father, an avid traveler and photography lover, would send his film to Seattle Filmworks and was never disappointed. Their development was unsurpassed, and the prints always arrived on time. Even my untrained eye could tell the difference -- the Kodak paper pretty much explained it to me. And the cost of these prints was pretty reasonable for the quality received.

The digital camera age has changed much, but the processing of quality photos on paper still demands more than your local WalMart or Target offers.

I just recently married and had a professional photographer take digital pictures. Do you think I wanted to take them to WalMart? No. I searched online for Seattle Filmworks and discovered they are now Photoworks and have an excellent and easy-to-use website. They still offer film processing, but have opened their expertise to the digital photo market.

I was thrilled! They have excellent prices and offer other products such as calendars, mugs, posters, apparel, and custom photobooks. Photobooks are easy to make and rather inexpensive. They come in a variety of styles, some just perfect for weddings. A quality, hardbound book to place your treasured pictures and place on the coffee table, or keep for your kids. I highly recommend them.
